Friday Night at Jazzoo

A coworker of Tom's, Joe asked Tom and I to go to Jazzoo with him and his girlfriend, Samantha on Friday. Jazzoo is: "The Kansas City Zoo's largest fundraiser and helps raise support for children's educational programs and feeds the Zoo's more than 1,000 animals."

The attire for the event is formal and men wear "creative tuxedos." There were some amazing costumes, but if they were handing out awards for Best Dressed - Tom and Joe surely would have won. (Not that I am biased) They got there outfits from an fun costume/vintage thrift store here in Kansas City called, Boomerangs.

There were over 60 Kansas City restaurants there that had amazing food and drinks. Each restaturant had a booth set up, and there was no lack of libations. We tried everything from lamb shoulder to a frozen Manhattan slushy. I am not sure how our friends over at the petting zoo felt about their cousin being grilled just a few yards away. I don't think they were happy because I kept hearing them scream, "baaaaaaaad." Okay, enough with the bad jokes.

They had most of the animals put away, or they were sleeping. We saw a camel, bird, and lots of llamas on a train ride they gave around the zoo. Those llamas didn't seem to sleep. Too much spitting to do, I guess. There were stages and bands set up all over with music ranging from old school Run DMC to Country. Lots of fun dancing as well!

We had such a fun time, and we feel really lucky for the opportunity to go! Samantha scored a couple tickets through her work, and we got to tag along. Tickets normally were $175 per person, so we really lived it up like big wigs in Kansas City for a night.

How fancy do they look?! Great costumes guys!
Wait a second... that's not Joe and Tom!

Lots of dancing and libations!

Love him!

Sam and I!

Looking dapper!

Don't be fooled... this is not live meercat.

We had to ride the carousel!
